#266 Wormfarm Workshop & Community Picnic @ Sustainability Street Phillip Bay
On a magnificent Saturday, May 7, 2011, Sustainability Street Phillip Bay, held wormfarm workshop at Greg and Leeanne's place, ably led by Ania and Leeanne. This was followed by a community picnic at the Fred Williams Reserve opposite our house. Twenty people participated in the workshop while the picnic attracted even more people as local families joined in the fun.
This event was supported by the 3 Council Ecological Footprint Project, a cooperative venture by the Randwick, Waverley and Woollahra Councils, assisted by the NSW Government through their Environmental Trust. They provided all the teaching material, demonstration wormfarms and vouchers for free wormfarms for each participant of the workshop as well as some great food for the picnic as part of the Compost Revolution, one of their projects, which has been running for 18 months Councils. Special thanx to the 3 Council Ecological Footprint Project's Richard Wilson and Lauren Michener for their support.
This event was held on the final day of International Composting Awareness Week, whose motto is “Compost, Help Scrap Carbon Pollution”.
Here's a great link from WA about wormfarming. Leeanne used this material for her presentation: http://www.zerowastewa.com.au/organics/resources/worm/ and here's Randwick City Council's page on worm farming: http://www.randwick.nsw.gov.au/Looking_after_our_environment/Greening_ou...
