Living Smart course
- runs over 5 Saturday afternoons
Live healthy, live sustainably...
This innovative and participatory course covers all aspects of successful sustainable living, such as:



  • healthy homes, lifestyles and diets

  • energy efficiency in the home

  • water conservation in our homes, gardens and balcony

  • gardens for biodiversity and food

  • sustainable transport

  • waste reduction and recycling

  • community involvement

  • sustainable suburbs.

We explore how we can take realistic initiatives and set achievable goals to deal locally with global issues such as global warming, peak oil, food security, water deficiency and others (www.livingsmart.org.au).
DATE: 5 x Saturday afternoons - 13, 20, 27 February and 6, 13 March 2010
TIME: 1.00pm - 5.00pm
WHERE: Randwick Community Centre, 27 Munda Street Randwick
(turn off Bundock St into Hendy Ave, then right into Marida St)

Compost and Worm Farming Workshop - 1 session
This course shows how easy it is to reduce household waste through the art of composting and worm farming. Learn how to fix problems, choose the best system and use the finished product.

Sustainable House Tour - 1 session
Barrett House is a working demonstration house retrofitted with practical sustainability measures. Discover how you can incorporate energy and water efficiency, the use of sustainable building materials, waste avoidance, minimisation and recovery into your everyday life at home, with a guided tour of the house.

Sustainable Gardening Course - runs over 5 Saturday afternoons
Whether you are designing a new garden or maintaining an existing one this course gives simple, practical tips such as installing rainwater tanks, building composts, mulched gardens and eliminating chemicals. Watch your balcony garden, permaculture food garden, native or cottage garden thrive as you learn to mimic nature.

Leeanne would like to be included in the Sustainable Gardening Course.  This way we get both bases covered!!!

Living Smart course  and Sustainable Gardening Course

will run repeatedly over the year, it is a shame that thery are both on at the same time.
